On Tuesday, June 7, 2017, Opus Design was honored as Massachusetts' Women-Owned Business of the Year. Julia and Lily received this prestigious award from William M. McAvoy, Deputy Assistant Secretary and Chief Legal Counsel, Supplier Diversity Office, Operational Services Division.

We have been a certified women-owned business since 2014, and the award is based on growth over the past two years, 2015 and 2016. The ceremony took place in the Great Hall of Flags, where all of Massachusetts' cities are represented. Gary Lambert, Assistant Secretary, Operational Services Division, spoke about the state's mandate to support diversity in government spending and the progress made over the past year. Seven departments received awards for exceeding their benchmarks. In addition to Opus, six other companies won in their respective categories, including Minority-Owned Business and Fernandes Line Construction. Some of the projects we designed for the state include the MBTA-Dashboard and logo, as well as research reports for the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission.

At the end of our visit, we toured some of the beautiful spaces and, with Julia's help, took a snapshot of our team and the governor. Thumbs up!
